A woman and her teenage daughter were gang raped in a horrific alleged attack after a group of men broke into their house. The gang reportedly cut through a window grille at the family’s home before looting gold ornaments and cash.

Police are investigating the incident which happened in Cox’s Bazar, south east Bangladesh, on June 8. Bangladesh’s Daily Star newspaper reports that the attack happened at about 2.30am in the Dolnighona area while the 40-year-old woman’s husband was away for work.

The victims were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for further treatment.

It is understood that the 15-year-old victim suffered severe blood loss and remains in a critical condition.

Six men have reportedly been arrested and are due to be interrogated.

As reported by the Express, a number of shocking rapes are being investigated by police.

In Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from her family home before being locked inside a public toilet and raped.

She was taken to hospital suffering from bleeding and police say she was given “comprehensive” medical care and then discharged.

Sunamganj Superintendent of Police, A B M Zakir Hossain, said that two teenage boys have been arrested and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Meanwhile in India, officers are investigating an incident where a 41-year-old woman was gang-raped on June 3.

A video of the assault was allegedly circulated in Whatsapp groups following the attack, which took place in the Davangere region.

The victim told police she had left home after an argument and was walking to her parents’ home when two men approached her.

They allegedly gave her a drink laced with sedatives, leading her to fall unconscious, before she was taken to a farm and attacked by 10 people.
