Donald Trump has been buying so many of his favourite shoes for agency heads, lawmakers, White House advisers and VIPs that they have become the unofficial White House Uniform. “All the boys have them," a female White House official told the Wall Street Journal. "It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them."
The brand that has turned the US President's head is not a luxury one, like his expensive Brioni suits, which can cost anywhere between $4,000 and $14,000 (£3,000-£10,400) a piece, but is instead Florsheim, which sells some pairs for as little as $49.90 (£37.27). He often speaks about how “incredible” they are and has even taken to guessing people's shoe size in front of them, puts in the order, and a week later it turns up, sometimes with the president’s signature on the box.

This includes one unnamed cabinet secretary, who had to stop wearing his Louis Vuittons and don a pair of Florsheims instead. Also among those who have a pair of Trump-approved Florsheims are vice-president JD Vance, Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, Sean Duffy, the transportation secretary, defence secretary Pete Hegseth and Howard Lutnick, the commerce secretary.
The 79-year-old billionaire's friends, Fox News personality Sean Hannity and Senator Lindsey Graham, also have a pair each.
Mr Vance and Mr Rubio are both said to have been given a pair of Florsheims after a meeting at the Oval Office in December when the president told them they had “s**** shoes”.
“The president kind of leans back in his chair and says: ‘You know you can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size," Mr Vance said.

It is unclear which exact shoe Mr Trump prefers, but recent photos of him show the president wearing black Oxfords. Among the models that match are the Lexington, which costs $145 (£108). According to the Florsheim website, it “brings together classic dress styles with lightweight comfort”, according to The Telegraph. Most reviewers gave the shoe four or five stars, though others complained that the quality had gone downhill recently.

Florsheim was founded in 1892 by Sigmund Florsheim, a German immigrant and cobbler, and is today part of a Wisconsin-based footwear company, Weyco. Among those who have previously worn Florsheim shoes are former president Harry Truman and Michael Jackson, who moonwalked in the brand’s loafers. The company also outfitted American soldiers in both world wars.
However, Weyco Group CEO, Thomas Florsheim Jr., told the WSJ that he was unaware of the president’s shoe orders and politely declined to comment further.
