Seven employees at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, were rushed to hospital on Tuesday afternoon after a hazmat situation unfolded at the popular theme park. Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to the incident at 12:30pm after receiving a report of an 'unknown odour' in the Tomorrowland section of the Disneyland Resort. Authorities said that employees had been experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath.

As a precaution, nearby rides and facilities, including Space Mountain, the Star Wars Launch Bay, and surrounding bathrooms, were reportedly closed temporarily while emergency teams investigated. Visitors were evacuated from the immediate vicinity and were allowed to return once the scene was secured.

Officials said that the incident was confined to a backstage area near the Star Tours attraction and did not affect visitors. Several other employees were treated by paramedics at the park.

The smell came from “building contractor materials,” according to officials.

As reported by FOX 11 Los Angeles, an official from Disneyland Resort said in a statement issued on Tuesday:"This afternoon, building materials being used by a contractor produced a reaction backstage at Disneyland park, and the area was examined by appropriate response teams.

"Several cast members were treated on-site by paramedics and released; and at this time, five cast members experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath were transported to local hospitals. Out of an abundance of caution, adjacent onstage areas were cleared of guests and are expected to reopen soon."
