Airspace closures have forced dozens of airlines to cancel morning and early afternoon flights amid escalating Middle East tensions.

Air travel across key Middle Eastern hubs has been severely disrupted on Monday, March 2, 2026, as the ongoing regional conflict has forced near-total shutdowns of departures. Airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and parts of Cyprus are operating under “ground stop” or “suspended” status, prompting airlines to cancel flights scheduled for the morning and early afternoon.

Officially closed to civilian traffic until at least March 3.

  2. Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels, ITA Airways) – Suspended until March 7
  3. Air France / KLM – Suspended until further notice
  4. British Airways – Suspended until March 4
  5. United / Delta / American Airlines – All flights suspended through the week (Air Canada through March 8)
  6. Wizz Air & Ryanair – Suspended until March 7
  7. LOT Polish Airlines – Suspended until March 15

Tehran (IKA)

Closed until at least March 3 8.30am local time

  1. Iran Air – Grounded
  2. Turkish Airlines / Pegasus / Ajet – All flights cancelled until March 12

  4. Austrian Airlines – Suspended until March 7
  5. Qatar Airways – Suspended due to home-base closure (Doha)
  6. Emirates / flydubai – Suspended due to UAE restrictions

Baghdad (BGW) & Erbil (EBL)

Closed and designated “Red Zone” by multiple governments

  1. Iraqi Airways – Grounded
  2. Turkish Airlines / Pegasus – Suspended until March 6
  3. Aegean Airlines – Suspended until further notice
  4. EgyptAir – Suspended all services to Baghdad
  5. Royal Jordanian – All rotations to Iraq cancelled
  6. Air Arabia – All flights to Iraq on hold until at least March 3
